My crime fighting duo!

The kids had a great time on Halloween! We went to the Halloween Carnival at the Prizery and Trunk of Treats at our church .They scored enough candy to last until next Halloween (you know I barely allow one piece a day!) and they LOVED wearing their costumes! Dennis and I feel very safe in our home with two superheros!

Anniversary trip and other stuff

Dennis and I celebrated 6 years of marriage on October 15. We celebrated last week by taking a mini-vacation to Charlottesville, VA. We went shopping, strolled the downtown area, went to the movies, and toured Monticello. It was GREAT!

Here are some pics from the gorgeous Monticello:

In other news, Grayson has gotten back into wanting to play guitar. For a while, he had lost interest, but now he's his daddy's child again. Dennis built this guitar himself!

Harper is very into playing doctor these days. She even insists on being called called Dr. Harper.

A great autumn weekend

Other than Saturday's trip to the ER because Grayson got what we think was a migraine after his soccer game (long story), we had a terrific weekend with gorgeous fall weather.

First off, Grayson scored 4 goals on Saturday - YAY! He is really improving at the game, and it is fun to watch.

We went to the pumpkin patch on Sunday after church and youth group, and the kids had lots of fun!

Weekend Report...Belated

My weekend was pretty darn blah. I woke up Friday morning with a sore throat, but nothing awful. Grayson had soccer practice Friday night.

Saturday morning, I woke up with a minor cold that didn't change much throughout the day. I went to Grayson's soccer game, cleaned the house, then went to a wedding with Gwen that night. I was tired, but didn't feel too awful.

Sunday it was full blown and I felt like crap. I missed church and stayed in bed all day long, trying to rest. Dennis took Grayson to a hydroplane race at the lake, which he thought was very, very cool!

Harper stayed home with me because it fell during her nap time. When she woke up, she got in the bed with me and kept me entertained. She loves to take silly pictures!

She also got her hair fixed in many beautiful styles. She's such a silly thing!

I'm still not feeling great, but a lot better than the weekend!

This is what weekends are all about!

If you know me & Dennis, you know we can't sit still long. Lounging around the house is about he most unrelaxing thing in the world to us! This weekend was busy and lots of fun!

Grayson had soccer pictures before his game on Saturday morning. In between the pictures and the game, the kids ran up and down this hill repeatedly. Oh how I wish I had their energy!
Photobucket

This week, they played against a team of 4 year old professionals - they were tough! All of the kids were really challenged, which is a good thing!

After the game, we went shopping for fall clothes & shoes for the kids. I found some great deals - including some Pumas for Grayson for $10! Nice!

After shopping, we headed to the fair. The kids had a ball! As Harper gets older, it is so nice to be able to see them do more fun stuff together.

I laughed so hard at Grayson riding the Himalya. Remember that ride? They had a kiddie version of it, but it still slung the kids to the side really hard. Harper was pissed that she couldn't ride it.

Harper had her very first taste of cotton candy, and she loved it!
Photobucket

Grayson, on the hand, hates cotton candy but decided to give it another try. Still hates it.

I thought his picture was cool! I tried to crop out the stranger kid, but it isn't working out.

Sunday, we headed to church and the kids looked so super cute! Good thing it was a little chilly yesterday morning because Harper had to wear her new dress!

After church, I went to see my niece in a play in Raleigh. She was so good! The whole play was great! :)

That's it!

Another lake "staycation"!

This past weekend, me, Dennis, and 5 other couples rented an amazing house on the lake and had a ball! The weather was warm and sunny, we enjoyed great company, fun on the lake, and delicious food. The kids came over on Sunday to enjoy the lake as well. Like I've said before, it is great having a nice vacation spot on a few miles away!

In other news...

Harper has been attacked by a ferocious stuffed snake! Be careful out there kids!

(The flash on my camera is broken, hence the dark picture.)

It is official...I am a soccer mom!

Grayson had his first practice last night and he really liked it! I thought he did very well, especially for his first time. His first game is supposed to be Saturday morning, but we'll see what Hannah has to say about that. :S

Only one more week!

That's right, the countdown continues! I will be 31 in exactly one week from today.

I know, I'm a dork!

First day of school

Today was Grayson's first day of pre-K, which is basically the new kindergarten around here. It is a full day, 5 days/week. He has been so excited to go and counting down the days until today. I have been excited for him as well, but I was so emotional this morning! I cried in the shower and in the car after dropping him off. He had a fantastic day though, and can't wait to go back tomorrow. He's also really excited to ride the bus tomorrow (I picked him up today). Here is a pic of my little man on his first day...these big milestones are so bittersweet!

Boys' night camping trip

I love to see my two boys get in some good bonding time together, which in return gives me bonding time with Harper. Saturday night, Grayson and Dennis went camping together and Harper and I stayed in and did "girl" stuff. :) Harper and went shopping, painted nails, watched "Dora Dora Dora" (as she calls it) and then I got to watch a movie after she went to bed.

We all had a great time! Here are some pictures from the camping trip!

Hope your weekend was great too! :)

My Do It!

Harper is in the oh-so-fun stage of wanting to do everything herself. My mornings are taking much, much longer than normal. She has to get herself on and off the potty, get in and out of her booster seat alone, put on her own shoes, get in and out of the car, turn on/off the TV, turn on/off lights, etc. Everything I try to help her with, she says "my do it!" LOL!

I love seeing her independence emerge, but it is a trying and slooooow process!

Also, she has loved baby dolls for a long time now, but her newest obsession is looking at them in catalogs and magazines...

The drama of being 4 1/2

My 4 1/2 year old is a teenager. I bought him some new camouflage shorts because his old ones were too small. He puts them on this morning and says they don't look right. They don't fit right. They don't feel right. He's 4 and he's a boy!

He desperately needs a haircut but doesn't want one because shaggy hair is so darn cool apparently. Again, he's a 4 year old boy...why does he care about his hair?

I hate to see what the real teenage years are going to look like!

The Family "Staycation"

For my dad's 60th birthday, my sister and I rented a lake house for our family last weekend. We had a really great time! We rented a pontoon boat and cruised the lake all day on Saturday, then that night we had more people over to grill out and enjoy the lake. It was nice taking a backyard vacation! We live so close to a very popular vacation spot, but rarely enjoy it ourselves. We're doing it again in September with some friends and I'm excited!

Here are some pics from our "staycation!"
